Royal Caribbean announces world’s largest cruise ship

Royal Caribbean has officially announced the highly anticipated Icon of the Seas cruise ship. The new cruise ship will surpass Wonder of the Seas, which currently holds the title of largest ship, and will become the largest cruise ship in the world.

Icon of the Seas will debut at the end of next year and will embark on a journey with its guests on January 28, 2024. Those who want to go on vacation on this ship can book their cruise on the Royal Caribbean website on October 25.

There is nothing in the ship

Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas cruise ship has basically everything inside. The ship, which will be a floating attraction, will include the world’s largest category 6 water park on the sea. There will also be a huge space on the ship called the AquaTheater with restaurants, bars and many events. The ship will have eight “neighborhoods” and three floors will be reserved for families only, and these three floors will often be equipped with family-oriented activities.

It will make a difference with its 47-meter waterfall over the oceans.

There will be a total of 7 pools inside the ship, four of which will be located in the three-story Chill Island pool area. Here, again, there will be restaurants, clubs and entertainment areas. In addition, the area, which will also feature a pool, hot tub and restaurants with Mediterranean cuisine, will be exclusive to Royal Caribbean’s most loyal guests. Much more than what we mentioned above will take place inside the cruise ship. Endless 24/7 activities on each floor, mini Central Park, ice skating, golf course, 47-meter waterfall, rock climbing will be part of Icon of the Seas.

Titanic is tiny compared to Icon of the Seas. Icon of the Seas will be Royal Caribbean’s most sustainable cruise ship. The ship, which will run on liquefied natural gas LNG, will have a state-of-the-art waste management system. When completed, Icon of the Seas will be 20 decks high, 250,800 gross tons and 365 meters long.

By comparison, the Titanic was only 269 meters. A few meters larger than Wonder of the Seas, the former holder of the title of largest cruise ship, the new ship will carry 7,600 passengers (about 10,000 with crew) at maximum occupancy. The cost of the ship is 2 billion dollars. Finally, Royal Caribbean will expand its fleet by adding two more Icon-class cruise ships by 2026.
