2022 Mercedes-Maybach S580 Review, Everything You Want, and More

Despite your proximity to some of its flamboyant corners, a degree of refinement remains important in your work. The Maybach certainly offers executive-level restraint, borrowing almost its entire look from the smaller S-Class, with the exception of the option of additional chrome on all sides and some Maybach badges on the C-pillars – and yes, fear not, they light up. Throw in the 20-inch monoblock-style wheels and the $12,750 two-tone paint job and you’ve got a car that shows enough personality without turning it into a rolling, rocking wallet.

While the exterior may not hold many unique points compared to the S-Class, let your driver electronically open one of the Maybach’s massive rear doors via the infotainment touchscreen and you’ll find something far more majestic and affordable for one person. size. This S580 includes the nearly mandatory $6,000 executive rear seat package, which steps out of line in favor of a center console with two separate reclining seats and folding tables, in addition to heated and cooled cup holders. One press of a button on the door panel pushes the front passenger seat forward so you can recline however you want – after all, not every waking minute has to be devoted to work. Speaking of leisure, this also includes a centrally mounted refrigerator ($1,100) and two champagne flutes ($3,200). Certainly,

head on this pillow for a second and take in every inch of Maybach’s interior. No corners or expense has been spared here – you’re not a shortcut person anyway, are you? Everything you touch is made of genuine Nappa leather ($8,000), from the heated armrests to the headliner. Enjoy thin strips ($1,300) in obsidian black trim. Run your fingertips over any Burmester 4D surround sound system and enjoy the precision of laser-cut metal. Everything here befits a king or a chief ruler. Same thing really.

Now, of course, a driver will be responsible for getting you between your home and office, but if the desire to control takes over you and you want to get behind the wheel, you won’t be disappointed. The S580’s 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 produces 496 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque and is sent to all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission. Let me start it for you. Did you hear that? Of course you didn’t. That’s exactly the level of isolation Maybach offers — even starters are too pedestrian for an elite person like you. You won’t hear much on the road either, and that goes for both engine and wind or tire noise. The glass is so thick you’d think the car was nearsighted.

Most Mercedes models do best in Comfort mode but lack the Maybach mode. Flip a switch and the suspension transforms into cloud-filled cushions that barely notice speed bumps yet still mark roads or highway expansion joints. You may have been in a Lexus LS, or even a Rolls-Royce Ghost, and I must say, you’re going to wonder how you stayed on a yacht with that crap. If a smooth ride is your top priority, and it’s probably because who can do the important work when they’re bouncing around, then you’ll love .pedal articulation. Every input is rotated to hell and back so that every start and stop is smooth and starts accelerating in second gear to further reduce unwanted movement. Of course there is a Sport mode if you want to turn it into an athlete, which is definitely not, but you probably already have a sports car for this kind of fun. Best for keeping your orbs separate and different.

Recliners, folding tables and champagne flutes. This is happiness.
Michael Shaffer/Does the Mercedes-Benz
Maybach provide good fuel economy? It’s a limousine with a twin-turbo V8, so not much. The EPA says it gets 15 mpg city and 24 mpg highway, but with a slight foothold it’ll get closer to 28 mpg on the highway. Not because it matters to you; Gasoline could cost $100 a gallon and still have pocket money.

Whether you’re the driver or the driver behind the wheel, you’ll both appreciate the high-quality technology of the Maybach S580. The MBUX is the star of the show, like any other modern Benz, and for good reason. It looks good, reacts from a cold start and is full of things to impress. You can set your own mood with the multicolored animated ambient lighting of the interior, or choose from several presets that come with a cute little matching graphic on the main 12.8-inch OLED touchscreen. These flashing lights never fail to dazzle.

But there are much better things here. The embedded navigation system works with the huge head-up display to provide augmented reality turn-by-turn directions in the same way as the electric EQS, making it nearly impossible to miss a turn. The 12.3-inch screen has a 3D effect that really just looks cool to the driver, but hey, this guy deserves some excitement in his life too. If you prefer the comfort of your own phone, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and there are several USB-C ports to keep all your essential devices charged in each row.

good life.

What good is it to have a point in life when you can have all these neat, expensive things, but only to be shuffled from the mortal coil? Fortunately, the Maybach S580 has you covered there, too. It is equipped with all the active and passive safety systems Mercedes has to offer, from emergency braking to pedestrian detection, blind spot monitoring and a uniquely fidelity surround camera system. The ambient light can even be configured to change when the parking sensors pick up objects, which is another little touch. The Maybach also includes full-speed adaptive cruise control, which can be combined with other aids for a hands-on system that does an excellent job of keeping the vehicle in its lane while keeping up with the speed of traffic. AR HUD will even highlight oncoming vehicles with a small green line. and will also guide you through a assisted lane change. You won’t find this level of detail anywhere else right now, not even on the Phantom, so be sure to tease your Rolls-Royce-owning friends for it.

There are few vehicles in the upper echelons of the automotive industry that can truly compare to the Maybach S580 standing before you. The Rolls-Royce Ghost is more of a driver-focused vehicle, and while the Phantom may win the lambswool and sunken umbrella competitions, you have enough money to question whether you really need to spend it. an extra $100,000 or more on a Cylinder. The Maybach is a serious value game compared to these cars, with prices starting at $185,950 including destination fees of $1,050. This example and its options come in at $227,900. Now this is a bargain. Put the money you save in this transaction into another addition to your attic over the weekend.

When to Start Packing for a Move

One week before moving day
Contact your moving company. Follow up to confirm that your plans are on track so there are no last-minute surprises.

Say your goodbyes. Organize a farewell party, spend quality time with your closest friends and visit your favorite places in town.

Check your packing progress. Most of your belongings should be packed up and labeled by this point. If you’re doing any cleaning or repairs yourself, make sure you’ve got all the supplies you need.

Prepare an “open first” box. This way, you’ll have all your essentials as soon as you arrive in your new home. Read more about what to put in it here. Don’t forget to decide how you’ll get it to your new home. If you’re flying and arriving before movers, you may want to consider sending it to yourself ahead of time.

Hire a sitter. Keep your children and pets from getting underfoot by securing a sitter for moving day. If your dog attends a daycare, consider sending them to it or boarding them if you’re moving within the same area.

Pay your bills. If there are any outstanding bills from your current address, square them away before you move. If you’re moving within the same service area, make sure your move dates and new address is updated in the relevant service provider systems.

Disassemble large furniture pieces. Bookshelves, bed frames, and other furniture may require disassembly and more intricate packing. Get them ready for shipment.

Do any DIY repairs you’ve planned. With much of your stuff in boxes and more space available, tackle repairs like patching wall holes and touching up paint.
